SharePoint development monthly community call is our monthly review for SharePoint developers to stay up to date on the latest changes to SharePoint Dev topics from an engineering and community perspective. This monthly community call happens on the second Tuesday of each month and we cover a summary of SharePoint Development engineering news, latest guidance, status in UserVoice, community contributions and other relevant topics.
In addition to strong adoption numbers, notables this month include: The Microsoft 365 PnP community has assembled and published non-dev focused documentation on governance, features and capabilities. Top 3 UserVoice items to be delivered in weeks. The 2020 PnP Team is now a few members stronger – 26 core members. PnP team members coordinate our open-source and community work – blog post coming soon. Thank you to individuals and organizations for your contributions in this last month.
The featured topic in this call: Multilingual portals with SharePoint Online – delivered by Microsoft Program Manager DC Padur. Multi-Lingual Publishing (MLP) for modern SharePoint is a cohesive multilingual site experience for publishers and end-users. This capability makes it easier for publishers who typically deliver information in a default language, to systematically deliver in other languages. The feature gives users the option to locate content in the language they are more comfortable. The system assists the site owner with organizing/managing pages, news, navigation, and actionable notifications by language to keep the single multi-language site-in-sync. Targeted Release for this new feature was March 2020 and General Availability begins in May and will be available in all clouds including government by end-of-May, 2020.
