    • Technically expected behavior, because “www.microsoft.com” is a legal protocol name, so this could be an attempt to use the “www.microsoft.com” protocol to go to the url "80".

      But sure, silly.

    • I get the same problem on desktop version of Edge as well.

    • Still an issue in Microsoft Edge 40 / EdgeHTML 15.15063 in Windows 10 Mobile Insider (while on desktop, the issue appears resolved).

In particular, I hit this behavior by accident when doing development/testing with a server on the local network. when an IP address with a port number (e.g. “192.168.1.163:8080”) is entered in the “Search or browse” bar it is not recognised / automatically prefixed with http://. Instead, this generally results in a “Search for app in the Store?” dialog. See https://twitter.com/patrick_h_lauke/status/878988917478961152
