Start page over writes entered data

Steps to reproduce

When opening Edge Browser and entering data into the search text box (with in the first few seconds of opening the browser) - the browser over writes the entered data, clears the text box and instead loads the edge start page.

  • Clear your cache.
    Open edge browser.
    With in the first 5 seconds of loading the browser, type and hit ENTER.
    It will over write it.

  • Thank you for the update. I am having difficulties reproducing this issue. Edge successfully navigates to the page that addressed in the search box. Please see the attachment(GIF).  Could you please tell us what do you mean by “overwriting” data and could you please test this with InPrivate Windows mode and any other Windows 10 environment, see if you can still repro the issue.

  • I see it is clearly repro on your end. To investigate this issue further could you please verify one last time if you can also see this issue on other PCs. I would like to eliminate the environment factor just in case if this is caused by missing or corrupt system files or any other third party application that may interfere.

  • I am unable to test it on other PCs; the difference between this PC and yours would likely be the speed of the internet connection (this is ADSL1 in a rural location). Yours most likely would be faster broadband, so that Edge browser is able to load those modules quicker than you are able to reproduce it.
