Steps to reproduce

I have found that Edge will not work if Kaspersky end point protection is installed on a machine, even if you remove it, Edge does not work. I have found the solution. Somehow the following registry entry gets on the machine
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\dcom
Enclosed are the screen snapshots of the what was in the registry. It appears that a “SDDL” entry is put into that registry setting. What I don’t understand is that you can delete the DCOM registry and everything works, at night something happens on the machine and that registry entry is replaced.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge 15002. The registry entry appears to be written by a virus and will need to be cleaned.

    Best Wishes,

    The MS Edge Team

  • It appears that in the most current releases that the problem has gone away. I received an email from #10670876 was fixed and set to fly, both of these problem were inter-related.
