Steps to reproduce
To reproduce, simply go to youtube.com and click on a video to play it. If you don’t hit the issue at first, then simply click on a different video from the suggested list on the right. You should notice that the video starts playing (sometimes trailing the audio a bit and then coming back in sync), but the video player controls and anything else on the webpage freezes.
It doesn’t matter if you use extensions or not, including adblockers. Still, the issue does seem to happen more often before ads actually load, and then when the ad was loaded everything comes back to normal.
I’ve also hit situations where video controls don’t respond while the ad is playing for its entire duration, when the expected behavior is to display a 5 second timer that brings up a ‘skip ad’ button. The timer is displayed, but it freezes as well.

I’m unable to reproduce on newer builds. Please feel free to comment if you’re still seeing this issue on newer builds. Thank you.
It still happens on 15063.332, on a Skylake PC and an Kaby Lake PC. It’s possible Microsoft’s own Surface devices don’t hit the issue, but that’s not what most people use, and we’re not talking about low-end hardware, but $3000 worth of hardware - a custom built desktop and a laptop. And it’s not just me, I’ve tested on a few other PCs owned by my friends - one of them recognized this issue as one of the reasons they’re using Chrome instead of Edge.
