Steps to reproduce

Description
a elements with onmouseup events attached do not still navigate to the link listed in the href value.

Reproduction Method
This can be reproduced with the following code:

EDIT: apparently the code for an A link removes itself even when posted between markdown backticks. Code sample is attached

Result
When clicking, the alert will still open, but google.com never opens in a new tab after the pop-up is dismissed.

Expected Result
The pop up is expected to open and, after closing, the link in the HREF attribute navigated to.

Additional Info
This also appears to affect onmousedown but not onclick or onmouseover … the behavior of onclick is the exact behavior expected from onmousedown and onmouseup
