Repro Steps:

  1. Paste the following code in an html file:

    <head>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function onload() {
    var testIframe = document.createElement(“iframe”);
    var testDiv = document.getElementById(“testDiv”);
    testDiv.appendChild(testIframe);
    var image = document.createElement(“img”); // Insert your image source URL here.
    image.src = "http://…";
    image.alt = "test image";
    testIframe.contentWindow.document.write(“<html><body>” + image.outerHTML + “</body></html>”);
    }
    </script>
    </head>
    <body onload="onload()">
    <div id="testDiv">
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
  1. Load the page in IE 10 or IE 11 on Windows 7 (haven’t tested with Win 8) and open the developer tools > Network tab.
  2. Capture the network traffic and observe that your image will be pinged twice.

Expected Results:

The image URL should be pinged only once.
