Repro Steps:

<div><p>sometext</p></div> execute div.innerHTML=""

it doesn’t just empty the <div>.

it causes all descendants’ to become separate independent parentless nodes and their <#text> nodes vanish.

Expected Results:

don’t search_and_destroy the descendants?
