Steps to reproduce

If the event handler for the mouseover or mouseout events calls window.alert() then the page completely freezes.

This can be easily duplicated using this jsfiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/hn0wgtzo/.

Duplication instructions are in the jsfiddle. Just in case, here are some more:

  1. Create a mouseover event handler that calls alert().
  2. Move your mouse over the element with the event handler. Click OK on the alert popup.
  3. Move your mouse out-and-back-into the element with the event handler.
  4. Result: The mouseover event is not fired a second time.
