Steps to reproduce

Apologies if this has been submitted before. I did see one complaint of similar behavior at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21437927/sendkeys-on-selenium-webdriver-once-in-a-while-sends-text-in-upper-case-in-inter
but they weren’t very specific.

I consistently see this behavior with the word "boolean", I assume because it’s a reserved word? Doesn’t happen if I use, say, 'foo’. I’m using Ruby and I’m on the 32-bit IEDriverServer.exe, v. 3.3.0, if that helps.

require 'selenium-webdriver'

capabilities = Selenium::WebDriver::Remote::Capabilities.internet_explorer
capabilities.javascript_enabled = true
url = "http://your-url-here:4444/wd/hub"
driver = WebDriver.for :remote, url: url, desired_capabilities: capabilities

driver.get('https://www.w3.org/WAI/UA/TS/html401/cp0101/0101-TEXTAREA.html')
el = driver.find_element(id: 'textarea1')
el.clear
el.send_keys('<boolean type="boolean">')   #boom

Thanks for your help.

P.S. The editor on this form keeps eating my angle brackets in the key step, so I’ve attached the code as a file.
