Steps to reproduce

After updating the creators update, I tried streaming a video off and it gave me the following error:

Unsupported Browser

This web browser isn’t compatible with Amazon Video. Please use one of the following web browsers:
Chrome (latest version)
Firefox (latest version)
Microsoft Edge
Internet Explorer (version 10 or newer)
Opera (latest version)

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. We have recently implemented security measures to prevent Flash video from automatically running on websites without end-user discretion. Please check the top of your Edge browser for a puzzle-piece icon which gives you control whether Flash will be allowed to run on the page or not. We have attached a screenshot of this tool to help.

  • I can’t open any page with any video. The jigsaw piece never appears. Pages try to load 3 or 4 times, then I get the same message:
    This page is having a problem loading
    We tried to load this page for you a few times, but there is still a problem with this site. We know you have better things to do than to watch this page reload over and over again so try coming back to this page later.

    I’ve tried various news sites from the Bing pages, Hulu, YouTube. Netflix gives a different set of errors - their H7353 which says to run Windows Update. Hahahaha! That’s what broke video streaming.

  • Yes Its the same for me as with Susan. I uploaded a screenshot as an attachment to see the error I receive. Its not even an error on amazon video, it just says the browser is unsupported and to download one of its supported browsers (which ironically Microsoft edge is supported). Please resolve this buy in a update soon as I have grown to love Edge and don’t want to go back to chrome…

    I have similar issues as well , after my PC Updated to the Creators Update , I’m unable to load videos on any website (Youtube , Netflix etc. ) using Microsoft Edge, ( other browsers work fine ) . The page starts to load the video and then it starts refreshing like two to tree times before displayng an error. There’s also no sign of the Jigsaw piece in the addressbar.

    An Immediate look, in to the issue is highly appreciated . Looking for a speedy response .

  • I’m having the same problem of freezing the tab and error in the video player when trying to play Netflix content, as reported by Abhinav.

    The tab freezes while loading the player and then returns an error message. The problem did not happen in the anniversary update and does not happen when using another browser.

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge with the information at hand. Please update this case with more details, such as a fiddler trace to help us repro the errors.

  • Microsoft Edge Creator ( Microsoft Edge 40.15063.0.0) the next best thing? Not if you like watching Netflix. Confirmed issues with rollout not ready for prime time. Netflix (arguably the most popular video streaming service in use today) confirmed engineers are working hard to resolve issues with Microsoft’s latest and greatest. Customer care specialists with Netflix now recommending using alternative browsers and apps after playback errors, as no solution is available at this time for compatibility issues with Microsoft’s latest much touted browser update. Since video playback seems to feature large in Microsoft’s promotion of their latest incarnation it is baffling that the company seems to have missed the mark here. 
    Looks like we will all be awaiting another patch, seems as soon as we get used to the idiosyncrasies and bugs of one system and they are patched enough to work as well as the old ones the cycle starts again. In a business setting it becomes especially frustrating with continual training and replacing incompatible hardware.
    No longer are machines our servant as we slave to make them accomplish the simplest task. At least my pencil will write if I keep it sharp and requires no continuous updates and the only errors incurred are by the user. I am not a complete luddite and enjoy my technology too, but maybe we should concentrate on making it work correctly before we set our sites on so called improvements or new features just because we can, or at least think we can.
    Guess I am just sounding off after spending time I wanted to relax watching a movie with tech support and eventually installing yet another app to do what I did so easily before yet another update.

  • I am have Same Issue but with playing some Games. Puzzle Icon does not show up to Allow. A case was created on this Issue also, Service Request Number 1386262936. When Does Microsoft plan on updating a patch fix on this Issue?

  • The same issue is present currently using Edge to play Amazon Video with error messages as noted above. No problems with other browsers and including Internet Explorer. Liked using Edge as it seemed to stream better but not after the latest update. Disappointing.

  • I confirm Netflix is a mess. I have the errors very often. I have to hit F5 2 or 3 times in order for the streaming movie to work. Anyway, Chrome works well. So I’m using Chrome from now on. I thought Creator Update was about to be a very good update but in fact all I see is Paint 3D and a not so working Microsoft Edge not counting the development using Edge is still so behind Internet Explorer with visual Studio. Ah well, enough complains and let the Microsoft programmers doing their job. I’m sure it’ll be fixed…

  • Hello,

    I had the same issue last night but I think I may have fixed it this morning.

    Amazon video probably has a licensing issue regarding their streaming services. With that in mind I went into Edge’s advanced settings and let Amazon have protected media licenses through my browser.

    Here’s a pathway to do that. Everything is at or near the bottom of each page.

    […] > Settings > View Advanced Settings > Let sites have protected media licenses on my device.

  • It’s already ON but there’s no difference. Edge is still not capable of running Netflix all right

  • Me too. Both Netflix and Amazon report that Edge and IE are not compatible browsers. Netflix provides a message suggesting a DRM (Digital Rights Management) problem, probably caused by a device driver. They recommend unplugging ever media device, including headphones and locating new device drivers. I would probably use “restore” to return to the previous Windows 10 version than use other browsers, but all my other (6) Windows 10 systems with the “Creators Update” are working and I have no external multimedia devices connected other than one large monitor.
