Steps to reproduce

I defined three finger swipe left and thee finger swipe right gestures as emulated back and forward mouse buttons respectively in the touchpad settings for precision touchpad in my Dell XPS 15 9550. The gesture works fine in other applications, for example in Firefox.

When I use this gesture in Edge, the browser often jumps 2 pages back in the history or 2 pages forward. I know there is a two finger gesture built into Edge that does the same thing, but the animation is unnecessarily slow and I want to have a consistent gesture across the system - which means three finger swipes for me.

    • Same problem here. Works fine in Chrome but not in Edge. Asus Zenbook ux302lg using the asus smart gesture driver.

    • ASUS ROG g501jw same problem

    • I have the same issues on the Dell XPS 9560. I’ve tried to adjust the touchpad sensitivity but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. It also seems to be more prevalent on some sites than others. I would really like to give Edge a proper chance but I agree with the ticker creator regarding the current user experience of Edge and it’s a dealbreaker so far.

    • A current workaround I’m using is to set the three finger swiped to a custom shortcut and then ALT + LEFT ARROW and ALT + RIGHT ARROW.
This seems to work in all the applications I’m otherwise using as well.

    • I get the same issue on ASUS UX305CA with asus smart gesture driver. Works in IE, firefox and chrome; however, in microsoft edge swiping back/forth makes the browser go back/forth twice.
