It works in Chrome, Firefox etc, but in Edge the dot does not pause.

It seems that animation-play-state is not supported.

Even with the following vendor prefixes, it is ignored.

#myelement:hover {
-webkit-animation-play-state: paused;
-moz-animation-play-state: paused;
-ms-animation-play-state: paused;
-o-animation-play-state: paused;
animation-play-state: paused;
}
