Steps to reproduce

Since the update mentioned in the title (or near that time ~ May 10) while viewing a PDF from Microsoft Edge … When I hover my mouse at the top of the viewing pane, the Microsoft Edge ChildWindow no longer produces the mini-window that shows you the PRINT icon, SAVE icon, PAGE number, etc. If I right click on the body of the document itself, a very-mini-window pops up that allows you to “SAVE AS” then I can successfully print from that saved document. If I right click just left or right of the body of the document (it’s slightly smaller than the window) a different very-mini-window pops up that says you can “SELECT ALL” or "PRINT", however the page is blank. The root cause appears to be that the hover of the mouse no longer produces the PRINT icon / SAVE icon mini-window.

    • I’d like to clarify that when I hover my mouse near the top of the window I cannot get the MINI-TOOLBAR to drop down that provides the PRINT icon, SAVE icon, page number, etc. This morning I applied Cum Update for Windows 10 (KB4020102) and hoped it might resolve the problem, but it did not. I looked back at other previous reported problems for printing from Microsoft Edge ChildWindows and tried maximizing the ChildWindow but I still cannot get the MINI-TOOLBAR to appear. Thanks, Gary.

    • I’ve tried a couple more things and have some additional information to share. If I use Internet Explorer, the ChildWindow produced allows me to hover my mouse and have the mini-toolbar appear. I also have 2 other banking applications that have PDF statements and they work fine. Under Microsoft Edge, one utilizes an ‘alservlet’ and the second banking application utilizes a 'Document Server’, neither uses a Microsoft Edge ChildWindow. Hope that information is of assistance.     • Asking for some clarification. What does “By design” mean exactly? You’re sharing virtually nothing here. Initially you wrote me off as "Not reproducible". Now I’m written off as "By design". What does that mean? I’ve been using Microsoft Edge and printing PDF’s via the ChildWindow since it came out with Windows 10 and suddenly after this last maintenance it no longer works. How is this written off as "By design". Or are you saying you previously supported printing via Microsoft Edge ChildWindow, and now with this latest maintenance update you have decided to no longer support printing via Microsoft Edge ChildWindow? I am respectfully asking for clarification, and hopefully with more than 2 words as you have written me off each time thus far on this issue. Thank you.

    • Sorry my previous comment was missed as I did not tag it correctly. What do you mean by ChildWindow? If it is the toolbar containing the print button, the new interaction for invoking the toolbar is to click anywhere on the screen. That will toggle the toolbar which gives you all the options. Let me know if I am missing something here.

    • Thank you for your response. What I mean is that this particular banking application produces statements utilizing PDF. When I select a particular statement PDF from their menu, it opens the statement in a new window with this heading “bank name - ChildWindow - Microsoft Edge” on the bar that has the minimize/maximize/close buttons. From day 1 of Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge the printing has worked fine from this ChildWindow. However since the Feature update to Windows 10, version 1703, clicking within the window no longer produces the toolbar with the print/save buttons for me. Thank you.

    • It’s been over a month. Is anybody out there?

    • Sorry for the delayed response. Can you please provide a screen recording or screenshots of this behavior? I could not understand what is the issue here. Is it about difficulty in finding the print button or print is not working?
      As per my previous response also, PDFs opened in Edge do have a similar toolbar which can be invoked on click and it has a print option. Printing functionality is also exactly same.
