Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a new session in Edge
  2. Open a new tab (and stay on the New Tab page)
  3. Close the new tab (the one you just opened)
  4. Notice the lag when closing the tab. The content hangs for about a half second before closing.

This behavior is not present if you close a tab that is not directly to the right of the first tab of the session.

This is 100% reproducible on my laptop and my desktop. Both devices are using the dark theme in Edge.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge. Please update this case when you can provide more details, such as video capture and run dxdiag (Windows key + r and type dxdiag, enter, then click Save all Information) and attach the txt file.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team

  • I have attached a video and a DxDiag.

In the video: Notice the responsiveness when I closed a tab for the first time. Notice the delay when I closed a tab for the second time. This is because the tab being switched to (the second time) was the first tab in the browser session.
