Steps to reproduce

Epub file is not being displayed correctly. Generally missing Text, but occasionally missing text also.

Example 1:
Open the following link in an Edge browser:
http://www.warhammerdigital.com/Downloads/Product/ePub%20and%20MOBI%20Extracts/G/325549TRHTRYUYI/rise-of-the-primarch-preview.epub

The Images and text from the epub are not displayed, as shown in attachments 1 & 2 with Edge and Readium from Chrome shown side by side.

Example 2:
Open the following link in an Edge browser:
http://www.warhammerdigital.com/Downloads/Product/ePub%20and%20MOBI%20Extracts/B/Death-Zone%202%20-%20preview.epub

The text is not shown in the Edge browser. Attachments 3&4 show the missing text in Edge, compared to Readium.

Just to be clear the issue occurs for both downloaded epubs and epubs opened directly from the links above.

  • Excellent - Thanks. Looking forward to trying it :)

  • The issue is not fixed.
Edge version 42.17134.1.0, Windows Build 17134, and the fonts are still an issue.
The issue seems to be that Edge does not properly de-obfuscate fonts in Epubs that have been obfuscated. I believe these are done with IDPF obfuscation. There is also Adobe obfuscation.

  • It is a shame because I really like the Edge two page layout rendering. It is one of the few Windows Epub readers I can find that does this. If it also let me read the first two pages as single page layout (some books include a cover and inside cover), then it would everything I’d want in an Epub reader.
