Steps to reproduce

Please fix Microsoft Edge. I like Windows for many things, but prefer to use Adobe for one thing - its pdf reader. Microsoft Edge continually takes over as pdf reader and I have to switch back. Sometimes after a day or two, but sometimes in as little as 5 minutes. I can’t tell you how much frustration this bug causes me - please offer your customers a way to disable the pdf functionality Microsoft Edge completely.
Note: I am already familiar with 3 ways to change back from Edge to Adobe for reading pdfs. I don’t need another way to do this. I need to know how to disable the pdf functionality of Edge.

    • Hi Daniel,

Short answer is that I am not aware of a way to disable PDF functionality in Edge itself.

The closest thing to having such a feature is most likely similar to or the same method you already know, i.e. by using the “Deployment Tools” to modify the default application xml configuration file in the installation image.  I have not seen any posts about this method not working.

I realize you didn’t want more information on changing it back and that expecting a user to perform such a task is not ideal.  I mention this method because there should not be any changing after being set.

Also, I wanted to let you know that this feedback was passed on and the frustration is known.  I am surprised there aren’t more votes for this issue in the dev feedback hub:
