Steps to reproduce

I’m a developer at Benchling and am trying to debug an issue where some pages crash on Edge.

Visiting https://benchling.com/s/SAMPLEPLASMID/edit crashes the tab / browser—other browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) have no problem rendering this page.

It’s hard for me to debug since the page crashes… but I’ve confirmed that removing CSS from the page didn’t cause the crash, nor did directly loading in a page with the expected DOM crash… but I don’t have much more information than that. Removing some components of the SVG rendering code did stop the crash, but I don’t know how to determine what the root cause is.

  • Hey James,

Thanks! Out of curiosity, what was the cause of the issue? Also, I’m not familiar with Edge’s release cycle. Is there a date I can expect this to hit stable? I’d like to let one our users know when they can use Edge again.

  • Hello,

We were already working on optimizing Edge performance for SVG in general, and this was fixed in the process. The fix is available to anyone using the fast ring and will likely be public stable sometime in autumn 2017.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team
