Steps to reproduce

Why doesn’t Edge have an option to restart interrupted downloads on the “Current downloads” tab.

In the attached example, clicking on the interrupted download sometimes brings up an option to "resume", but more often, I have to remove the download and start again.

This was never a problem with IE.

I used https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/ to start a large download and test this. One can pause and resume downloading, but if the download is interrupted by e.g. disconnecting the internet connection then the download simply says “interrupted” and cannot be resumed.

  • Thankyou for taking the time to confirm this problem.

  • Interestingly, the following has worked on a couple of occasions.

When I click on the "download interrupted", nothing happens. But if I then click on the “View Downloads” tab at the bottom of the page, then the option to “Resume” appears, and if I click on that, then so far, a couple of the downloads have been resumed.

  • FYI, that procedure just worked again – a bit clunky, but at least I’m not losing a download that is 90% of the way through and having to start again.

An option to “Resume” on the “Downloads” page would be nicer.

  • I tried the “clunky” procedure again, and it didn’t work this time – had to restart the download

  • I see you guys keep shifting assignment without actually doing anything. The corporate bureaucracy remains strong with Microsoft as always.
