Steps to reproduce

View in Edge 41.16251.0.0 on RS3 16251.0 insider preview. Print this using the Microsoft Print to PDF printer. Note that both the page preview in the print UI and the generated PDF have the alignment screwed up. Neither looks like the page in Edge.

That I used the PDF printer doesn’t matter. The preview UI is the same for all printers suggesting that it is Edge. I used PDF so that I can upload the result.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. It appears the width of your page is too large for the page; I was able to print the file at 50% zoom and the alignment is perfect. I have attached a copy, but the images are missing likely due to corruption when it was saved or uploaded.

    Best Wishes,

  • I didn’t try changing the zoom level as my printer settings use the default of Shrink to fit. It appears that shrink to fit doesn’t work. See print preview dialog I will uploaded. It should use a zoom that allows the content to fit.

  • Hello,

Thank you for the update. I have adjusted the title of this case and will investigate the Shrink To Fit problem.

  • Thank you for the feedback. The behavior you’re observing is By Design. We’ve recently changed the default styles for unformatted text in Microsoft Edge to match other browsers. Our developer has investigated your report and has noted that shrink-to-fit works by laying out document at 100%, measuring longest non-breakable content and calculating the scale factor based on this data. You’ll see the say layout in the browser if you make window smaller to force wrapping. We now also match other browsers for screen and print and currently don’t plan to pursue any changes in that design.
