Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Korean Supplemental Fonts from Settings->Apps->Apps & features->Manage optional features->Add a feature
  2. Access https://codepen.io/SaschaNaz/pen/VzWdma

Expected: Edge should use Malgun Gothic (sans-serif) or Batang (serif) by default

Actual: It uses legacy Gulim by default

This highly affects Reading View (where readability is important) because of the lack of explicitly assigned Korean font on its stylesheet. Typical web pages are not affected because they assign their own font or at least uses sans-serif fallback.

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. We are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge 16257. Your screenshot appears to be the results we get in 15063, but we have fixed the problem since then; also we now automatically install the Korean Supplemental Fonts when Korean is added to the Language Preferences, so perhaps you are testing an earlier build. If you are still seeing the problem in Edge, please run dxdiag (Windows key + r and type dxdiag, enter, then click Save all Information) and attach the txt file.

  • The step 1 is for testers without Korean language added, and please read the Details to get my testbed build number (it’s 16257).

    If you open the page without Korean Supplemental Fonts then you won’t see this issue happen.

    Uploading dxdiag.txt anyway.

  • Note: You have to see 한글 part rather than あいうえお one to see this Korean font issue.
