Steps to reproduce

After installing Creators Update Microsoft Edge reports:
“Hmmm… cannot reach this page. Try this… Make sure that you’ve got the right web address: https://www.google.co.uk…”
The DNS server might be having problems.
Error Code: INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND

This appears to be an underlying issue with Windows 10 Home since all “Modern Apps” on the affected machine are experiencing lack of connectivity. Traditional applications such as Internet Explorer are functioning normally. Please see attached problem log.

  • Hi! I’m having the same issue! Any of my windows 10 apps work! Windows Store, and every app from Windows Store i have doesn’t connect! But my internet is fine, with other browsers and services i can connect and do everything just fine. I get this when i try to open Windows Store ( http://prntscr.com/gd276y ).

    PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-Acl HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters | Format-List

  • Also i can’t access https://answers.microsoft.com/ in normal tab! But, in incognito tabs, it works just fine.

  • Looking at posts hither and thither, I have installed Progress Telerik Fiddler Web Debugger v4.6.20172.34691 which, when running, allows all Modern Apps, including Edge, access to the Internet. As soon as I exit Fiddler “Modern Apps” revert to no Internet connection. I do not consider this a solution however.
Incidentally, Edge does not work for me when using “In Private” tabs.

  • I assume Fiddler is accessing the Internet as a traditional application would & then acting as a proxy server for all other traditional & modern UI apps thereby circumventing the problem.

  • IE 11 still works (after a reboot) with the “Enable Enhanced Protection Mode*” setting checked (and without Fiddler running). Am I correct in saying this makes IE run using an AppContainer/Sandbox in the same manner as a modern UI apps? Does IE 11 have more in the way of permissions or is it using a different AppContainer?
