Steps to reproduce

Detailed battery consumption report on Windows 10 Mobile devices still reports noticeable battery usage (over 30%) on background while Edge is disabled as Background app. This behavior started on Creators Update and persists on latest OS build 15063.540.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Get a Windows 10 Mobile device with 15063.540 OS build
  2. Disable Microsoft Edge in Background apps
  3. Wait 24 hours
  4. Check detailed battery report of Microsoft Edge

Expected: Zero battery usage on Background (because it is disabled as Background app)
Actual: About 30% battery usage on Background

  • See attached screenshot.

  • Can confirm on L950XL. I’ve disabled it month ago, yet still I see Background: 3-10% of usage overnight, even if Edge is closed from the App Switcher.

  • I’ve been problems with battery consumption after applies 15063.540 OS build in 950 XL. I turn off Background in some apps but didn’t solve the problem yet. Waiting for a solution.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After completing this test, we are unable to reproduce the problem in Edge. Please test this behavior in our latest insider build 15235, as I suspect it is fixed there.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team
