Edge forgets websites active session when opening a new page

Steps to reproduce

On specific websites (reddit.com), opening a page using Right click > open in new tab, or by using middle mouse click causes the website to loose its session and sign you out. But the original page keeps its session.


  1. Sign into reddit.com on Edge
  2. Open a posts comments via right click > open in new tab or middle mouse wheel.
  3. Notice you will have been signed out.

It may take a few attempts for this bug to appear.

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge with the information at hand. Did you possibly click a button to recover the webpage and then notice you are logged out? Please update this case when you can provide more details, such as a link to the sample post which repro’d or a video capture.

  • I’ve attached a gif of me reproducing it, this is with all extensions disabled. As you can see i am signed in, then when i open a page in a new tab it forgets I’m signed in.   • Will this bug be fixed in RS3? It prevents the browser being used due to the annoyance of the bug.

  • I have a similar issue in Edge 41.16299.15.0. I am logged out of web pages after some seconds and/or one click. Happens also on this page…
