Steps to reproduce

Every time I open Edge it stays open for just a few seconds and then closes down automatically. This is the log from the Event viewer:

Faulting application name: MicrosoftEdge.exe, version: 11.0.14393.1715, time stamp: 0x59b0d2d1
Faulting module name: eModel.dll, version: 11.0.14393.1715, time stamp: 0x59b0d2c5
Exception code: 0xc0000409
Fault offset: 0x00000000000d47f0
Faulting process id: 0x1680
Faulting application start time: 0x01d32f030bf3dcd8
Faulting application path: C:\WINDOWS\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\eModel.dll
Report Id: 7b0db0cb-8180-427d-bb8e-964917c7aa28
Faulting package full name: Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_38.14393.1066.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe
Faulting package-relative application ID: MicrosoftEdge

I’ve tried deleting all the files and folders in
C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe
I’ve tried the powershell command to register Edge again
Tried restarting after doing both and it still won’t open

Also, not entirely sure if it’s related or not, but the Windows Store thinks I’m offline when I’m not. At the bottom of the screen it says Code: 0x80072EE7. Internet Explorer is working fine.

    • Hi Adam,

I believe this is a duplicate bug
report.  Can you review the following bug report and let me know if it is your
issue and if the fix works for you?

      https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/issues/13779603/

Run this command in an administrator
powershell to see if the issue I referred to above is the same issue:

      Get-Acl
      HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters | Format-List

      You
are having the issue if you DO NOT have the following entries in the output of
      the Get-Acl command.

             APPLICATION PACKAGE AUTHORITY\ALL APPLICATION
      PACKAGES Allow  ReadKey

             APPLICATION PACKAGE AUTHORITY\Your Internet
      connection Allow  ReadKey

             APPLICATION PACKAGE AUTHORITY\Your Internet
connection, including incoming connections from the Internet

      Thanks,

      Steve

    • Yes, thank you, issue is resolved. The regfix.zip file on the link provided solved the problem.

    • For the past 2 days I have had this issue with Edge closing down after a few seconds.
Yesterday I went through the lengthy process of having windows search for any corrupted files and replacing them. This solution works.
Today, when it happened again, I found my way here after looking at the error via event viewer ie

I tried the regfix solution which appeared to run successfully but made no difference to the running of Edge.

I then searched again for a solution and came across this solution from Robert Aldwinckle:

      https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/forum/edge_crash-edge_win10/microsoft-edge-has-disappeared/82d28593-5003-40c6-b47c-0f90b2b1679b#LastReply

This solution works perfectly for me; it is simple and fast.
