"Save" and "Save as" button are not working without any error message

Steps to reproduce

The “Save” and “Save as” button of the download bar are not working and do not show any error message. So it took me quite a while to figure out the real problem. Possibly you could improve the UI here.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add e.g. an USB stick (mounted e.g. to F)
  2. Goto Edge settings and change the default download location to this stick
  3. Remove the USB stick (no F anymore available)
  4. Download a file
  5. Try to click on “Save” or the “Save as” button

Just nothing is happening like the buttons have no functionality at all

Edge shows me a message that the default download location is not reachable or even gives me the possibility to directly change it.
Also I would expect that the “Save as” button is not influenced at all by the default download location.


  1. The expected behavior occurs, so this seems to Not Repro.
  2. Dismiss the popup and save the file in an available location.
  3. Now try to save an attachment, perhaps part of this case or an email.
  4. Nothing happens when one clicks Save or Save As (see public screenshot).
  5. However, if you go to a website and right-click an image, you can save as expected.

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge 15063. Please try disabling all browser extensions and restarting Edge to see if this fixes the problem.
