Steps to reproduce

The following html is supported on IE 11.

<p><input type="text" spellcheck="true"> Input element with type="text" </input></p>
<p><div contenteditable="true">Content editable div element</div></p>
<p><textarea >Text area element</textarea></p>

However, spell checking is supported for the textarea and div above but NOT the input type text on EdgeHTML 15.

The caniuse.com website says the spellcheck attribute is supported on Edge since EdgeHTML14. This does not appear to be the case.

I do have the Typing setting for spellcheck enabled on the Windows 10 PC I am testing this out on.

    • Hi Team,

Is there any resolution provided on the issue that “spellcheck” true doesnt work on the text box where it works in text area. this setting works in chrome/ie/safari but not in Edge.
could you please provide an alternate solution to this.

    • Still not working (Microsoft Edge 44.17763.1.0, Microsoft EdgeHTML 18.17763).
Doesn’t work in Chromium based Edge either (

Why is this so hard for MS to fix?

Works in all other browsers, Chrome, Firefox and IE. Giddy-up MS!
