  • Hi Dirk,

    Can you tell me if you have “Always clear this when I close the browser” enabled?  See the attached screenshot.

  • Hi Steve,
    no, I don’t have this enabled and this setting has nothing to do with the about:flags page/values. This is more a problem with events like onclick, onchange, …
    With the developer console I see problems with the flags.htm page. I will attach screenshots after I have switched from de-de to en-us.

  • If I open about:flags and F12 Developer tools, I directly see a “permission denied” message. If I then click on the right at flags.htm(341,21) the debugger window is showing the part:
    } else {
    enabled = window.external.GetExperimentalFlag(flag.FlagName);
    input.checked = flag.Reverse ? !enabled : enabled;
    if (window.external.GetExperimentalFlagIsPolicyEnabled(flag.FlagName))
    input.disabled = true;

    So it seems to be a policy/permission problem that the flags could not be read/changed.

  • Ok, got it and thank you for the quick response.  I just started looking at this and that was the first thing that came to mind.  Let me find out where these settings are “supposed” to be saved, etc.  :)

  • Still happening on 17035.
    I’ve tried resetting Edge and upon opening about:flags and ticking any of the options at the bottom they are not saved when exiting and reopening the browser.

  • For me it is fixed with build 17035.
    I have set VP9 = Always on and enabled experimental JavaScript features.
    After a restart of Edge my settings still persist.

  • I’ve done a bit of playing around.
    It looks like it’s only Service Workers that can’t be enabled without it causing the permission denied issue.

  • Update: At a first look, it seems to be fixed with build 17035, but sadly it wasn’t. With the new build 17040 it is still broken. I cannot reset it to the default values (“permission denied”) and every checkbox I change will not be saved.

  • Update 2: I noticed that with build 17040 the problem was only at my main desktop computer but not at my Lenovo Yoga notebook. So I have reset Microsoft Edge (Settings -> Apps -> Microsoft Edge -> Advanced options -> reset). The repair option did not helped, but the reset helped. So currently it is working again on both devices.
