Steps to reproduce

Edge does not currently respect the contenteditable attribute when applied to a <td> element.

This works in every other browser. Nowhere do the standards specify that this behavior should occur. Were you guys just kidding about Edge being a ‘new browser’ only to fall back into IE’s ways? Would be a shame if true…

    • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge with the information at hand. Please update this case when you can provide these details: a reduced code sample or sample webpage to test, your repro steps, and the EdgeHTML version you are using.

    • I have same problem this issue.

You can test only below simple code.

      1234

      I want to edit 1234.
      You can’t edit 1234

    • This comment does not support html source code.

1234

• Agree with SungHee. It happens with the most basic of examples. You clearly have not even attempted to investigate the issue. I will produce a complete test case just so it gets solved because Edge is a product I actually believe in.

    • Hello,

Thank you for providing this new information about the issue. I will push for a change to accept contenteditable=true on the table
      tag and the td
      tag.

Currently, a workaround is to apply contenteditable to a p
tag inside the td tags. [p contenteditable="true"]1234[/p]

    • Thanks for the p tag workaround. Four months later, any progress?

    • …Just wanted to join the conversation to stress the importance of the ability of editing table td elements on contenteditable-true. Forced to use FireFox and/or Chrome for now because of this issue in Edge.

    • Same here, please add this fix

    • We also are exploring the need to state that for editing our clients will need to use Chrome or FireFox. We would prefer to not do this. Please help us support Edge.

    • Yes this is annoying with it is only Edge that is causing issues. But a easy work around would be to do the following…

                  0

Done this within my production code and works.
