Steps to reproduce

When viewing a HTML5 video, intermittently, will be shown an additional icon on the controls bar, indicating 'zoom in’. Pressing the icon does nothing. Refreshing the page, or resizing will cause the icon to go away. Sometimes refreshing again, it returns. There appears to be no pattern I can find regarding the media content and this icon.

sample markup:
<video controls="" playsinline="" preload="metadata">
<source src="media/file.mp4" type="video/mp4">
</video>

  • Hello,

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. This feature is the Theater Mode option or wide-screen option. It is only available in scenarios where the video is displayed in an area much wider than tall.

    An easy way to see it is to open F12 Console in Edge and then expand the video to full screen.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team
