Steps to reproduce

We have a CSP and MiniDriver for use with a proprietary SmartCard. When authenticating against this card it is not possible to enter a PIN code in the authentication dialog using the numerical keypad in the virtual keyboard when using tablet mode.

  • PC with Windows 10 ‘Fall Creators Update’ in tablet mode.
  • Connect a PCSC card reader.
  • Insert a smartcard into the card reader.
  • Open Edge and connect to a SLL web site requiring client authentication.
  • An authentication dialog opens requesting the PIN code for the inserted smartcard.
  • When using the virtual keyboad’s numerical pad (right-hand side), digits can not be entered into the PIN entry field.


  • Numerical PIN entry works correctly in the previous ‘Creators Update’ version of Windows 10.
  • Characters from the alphabetic (left-hand side) section can be entered into the PIN field.
  • Digits from the numeric pad can be entered into Notepad and then copied and pasted into the PIN entry field.

        With display language and Keyboard set to FRA, not able to login using PIN



        With display language and Keyboard set to FRA, the number keys are not recognized to enter PIN in the login screen.

Was able to login after changing the keyboard layout to Eng.
