    • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. Please download debug diag from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49924

      1. Once installed, open debug diag and select the rule type ‘Crash’ and click Next.
      2. Under Select Target Type, select ‘A specific process’ and click Next.
      3. Under Select a process, please select a MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe process and click Next.
      4. In the Advanced Configuration, please just click Next.
      5. Lastly, in the Rule Output Location, please choose and take note of the location where the dump file will be written; click Next then click Finish.
      6. Reproduce the crash in Edge, and open the folder location from step 5 above. Locate the file ending in .dmp; please compress/zip the .dmp file(s) and attach it to this case.

    • Dear MS Egde Team

Thank you for responding quickly, i apologize for being late looking into it , anyhow here’s my response to your suggestion-

I can’t execute the step 1 as after the download, the rule type crash doesn’t appear
in the “debug diag Analysis” tool, also there is no button to click 'Next to’.

Wish i could share a screen-shot with you, if you could kindly forward a mail id i would do the same promptly.

      Kindly guide ahead.

      Regards,
      Sudeept

    • Hello,

Thank you for the update. My steps might be outdated, so I ran DebugDiag and wrote these new steps:

Please download and install debug diag from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49924

      1. Open DebugDiag 2 Collection
        . Allow permission if prompted.
      2. If the Select Target Type window does not automatically open, click Add Rule…
      3. Select ‘Crash’ and click Next.
      4. Select ‘A specific process’ and click Next.
      5. Click the Process Name heading to sort alphabetically and select any one of the MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe processes and click Next.
      6. In the Advanced Configuration, please just click Next.
      7. Lastly, in the Rule Output Location, please choose and take note of the location where the dump file will be written; click Next then click Finish.
      8. Reproduce the crash in Edge, and open the folder location from step 5 above. Locate the file ending in .dmp; please compress/zip the .dmp file(s) and attach it to this case.

If you do not see these options as described, please try closing DebugDiag and starting over at step 1.

      Changed Status to “Not reproducible”

    • Hello James M,

This issue is re-producible at my end.
      Again sorry for late reply.

I have installed Debug Diagnostic Tool. After following the steps you have provided i could create a rule. After creating the rule i again clicked on the microsoft edge icon on mt task bar which launched edge. The edge stayed on for some time and then crashed.

I checked the folder Crash rule for all instances of MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe at the path C:\Program Files\DebugDiag\Logs set by the debug diagnostic tool, however i could not spot any log files.

      Kindly recommend forwards.

      Regards,
      Sudeept

Would you kindly update on this issue?
I tried the entire process again however the tool is not producing any files
at the path - C:\Program Files\DebugDiag\Logs\Crash rule for all instances of MicrosoftEdge.exe

    • Hello,

Let’s try it this way, instead.

      1. Open an elevated prompt (cmd, Run as administrator)
      2. Change directory to your Windows user profile path (e.g. C:\Users\yourname) using this command: cd USERPATH (be sure to replace USERPATH with the actual path)
      3. Run this command: wpr -start EdgeBrowser
      4. Reenact the simplest possible repro steps
      5. In the same elevated prompt, run: wpr -stop SCENARIO.etl “Trace Description” (pick an appropriate name instead of SCENARIO
      6. In File Explorer, locate the ETL file which is now saved under your Windows user profile path
      7. Compress (zip) the ETL file - i.e. Right click, Send To, Compressed (Zipped) Folder
      8. Then attach the .zip file to this bug.
