Steps to reproduce

When I use window.open() to open a popup window, the closed property on the popup’s window reference becomes true when the popup’s location goes to a different security zone. The dev tools correctly shows window.closed as false if you test the popup window’s console. See attached test case and start by opening main.html in the intranet zone.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge 16299. Please let us know how you opened your local file in the intranet zone so we can be sure to follow the same steps.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team

  • I’m using two machines, both on the same LAN using 10.x.x.x addresses. One machine is the web server where I’ve deployed the test files and the other is the Windows 10 test machine. I can repro in Edge with both the FQDN and just the web server’s machine name. (I can also repro with IE 11 on the same machine, but only when not using the FQDN.)

Also, make sure modern.ie and developer.microsoft.com are not in your Trusted Sites list, or you won’t be able to repro this issue.
