Steps to reproduce

After Fall Creators Update, Edge has shows this problem (before FCU it was ok)

  1. JSFiddle with example https://jsfiddle.net/Darkbluesky/98damsae/4/

  2. When hover the smoke image the alpha blending gets wrong rendered and then makes the transition. No matter if done by means of filter or directly with opacity property.

  3. If background is disabled, then the transition is ok. Hope you can find and fix it quickly.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge with the information at hand. Please update this case when you can provide more details, such as: clear descriptions of the actual results vs the expected results, or a video capture of the actual results vs the expected results.

    Best Wishes,

  • Hi,

I have attached a capture of the jsfiddle. Don’t you see this when you hover it? If I remove the background and replace it by a solid color, then the hover effect (fade) is rendered correctly.

I hope that seeing this video you will get which is the problem and how should it be the normal behaviour.

  • Hi James,

I have attached another video, it shows the correct behaviour in Firefox 57.0.2, so you can now compare and see the bug/problem in Edge I am referring to.

I hope this help identify the problem and its fix.

  • Hello,

Thank you for providing this additional information about the issue. I now know the problem you are reporting, but I am definitely not seeing that behavior in my tests. Please try disabling all browser extensions and restarting Edge to see if this fixes the problem.

  • Hello

I had done that a lot of times, but I have just done it, moreover I have disabled, uninstalled all extensions, cleared cache, etc and restarted Edge. No changes, the problem is still there. Really I do not know what to do/try more…

  • Hello,

I apologize for the trouble you are experiencing. Before we attempt any troubleshooting steps, please run dxdiag (Windows key + r and type dxdiag, enter, then click Save all Information) and attach the txt file.

  • Hello,

I have attached the dxdiag log.

Aside of that I have recovered a backup from before Fall Creators Update, but the problem is still there.

Then I have removed (and cleaned completely) the nvidia drivers in Safe Mode and restarted. Then, before installing the new drivers, the problem is not there (!), but as soon as I install any official Nvidia Quadro driver from 381.65 (not tested older ones) and above up to 388.16 the problem appears.

I work with a Quadro K620 via DisplayPort. On the other hand, I have tested with a Geforce instead the Quadro and the problem is gone, no problem. This makes me think that there is some interaction with Quadro card/drivers. Don’t know if side of Microsoft, Nvidia or both.

I hope this will help to find and fix the problem.
