Steps to reproduce
I’m facing a weird issue with Microsoft edge / IE11 and the $.ajax() function from jQuery. The hit is to the same domain, and I’m using the success/error methods to handle the response and inside the success method I’m calling another function to handle the result and set some variables. This is an asynchronous call (I mean the async flag takes the default value ‘true’).
When I launch the web app the ajax call sends the request but it keeps the “pending” status in the network even if the function inside the success has been executed I’m printing the result, the textStatus and the jqXHR and all of them looks good but the status change to success (200) until the function inside the success finishes its excecution.
It doesn’t happen in Chrome or FF and it causes that “Page not responding” message appears in the window.
I tried by disabling cache (cache property in my ajax call) and I got the same results

Can you provide a simplified repro for this?
