Steps to reproduce

SVG has been standardised for a long time. Although it was not Microsoft’s first approach it has now replaced VML. However, this late arrival to the party means MS Edge is well behind the support curve. In order to compete this needs to be addressed. This is also an accessibility issue as SVG is far more symantic than canvas.

    • This website is only intended to report issues with implemented features. If you want to support our efforts to prioritize SVG 2, can you please create or upvote the feature on the Microsoft Edge user voice? Thanks!

    • Thank you for the feedback! SVG 2 as a standard currently doesn’t exist and the working group is working hard to finalize and ship a meaningful update over SVG 1.1 - we’re participating in this process!

Many browsers started to implement more stable parts of the specification and Microsoft Edge does support an interoperable subset of the new features - such as href that doesn’t require xlink and few others. We’re not waiting for the final SVG 2 to be complete - and constantly evaluate individual useful additions to the web platform.
