Steps to reproduce

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

our customers are experiencing a strange issue.
If any file would be downloaded within Edge or IE it will be saved as TXT-file.
It’s since the Fall Creators Upgrade (1709).

Eventviewer shows this (it’s in german!):

      we are waiting for some reaction.
      Our Customer awaits a possible solution by the end of this week.
      I’ve opened this case at 12th January, now it’s 24th.
      I see it’s assigned to someone but no reaction whatsoever.

    • It’s 2 days and again, no reaction. Should I call Bill Gates for this or what? This kind of ‘support’ is unacceptable. Just react!

    • Hi Stefan, apologies for the delay here. Would it be possible for you to grab a Fiddler trace of the issue reproducing and attach it to this bug? Alternatively, a trace taken with the Feedback Hub app while the issue is reproducing would also work:

      1. Open the Feedback Hub app on your device
      2. Click on the “Feedback” tab
      3. Click on the “+ Add new feedback” button
      4. Click "Problem", fill in the title/details and select “Microsoft Edge” as the category and the appropriate sub-category (in this case, “Website issue”)
      5. Under "Recreate the problem", press “Start capture” (the “Recreate the problem” button may not exist depending on your version of the Feedback Hub, but you should see a “Start capture” button in the UI regardless)
      6. Once the capture has started, run through the steps required to reproduce your issue
      7. Click “Stop capture” back in the Feedback Hub app
      8. Attach a screenshot of the behavior (if it’s not a crash or hang)
      9. Press “Submit”
      10. Paste a link to the Feedback item you just created in this bug so I can find it and take a look

      We have not been able to reproduce the issue. If you can collect a trace via Fiddler or by submitting an issue in Feedback Hub, that will help us confirm if this is specific to certain sites or is a possible machine-local configuration issue.
