Steps to reproduce

  1. Run attached index.html.
  2. Click start button to start the media stream.
  3. Click Mute button to mute the stream.
  4. Video freezes instead of showing black screen.

Specs can be seen at this link

The result for the consumer is the same in the sense that whenever
MediaStreamTrack is muted or disabled (or both) the consumer gets
zero-information-content, which means silence for audio and black
frames for video.

Following code snippet is used for muting the audio/video.

window.stream.getTracks().forEach((t) => {
    console.log('Mute track: ', t);
    t.enabled=false;
});

  • Hello,

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. After thorough testing, we are unable to reproduce this problem in Edge. Please test this behavior in our latest public stable build 16299.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team

  • Hi James,

    I am already testing it on latest edge 41.16299.15.0.

    I have created a screenshare to make it more clear. You can see in the screencast that clicking on mute button freezes the video instead of turning it to black as per the specs.

    Please check the attached [screenshare video] https://1drv.ms/v/s!AkzSgRyM9-q5iSG9gopyLhFFw2sw) to see the actual behavior.
