Steps to reproduce

We have an application that uses the browser as an interface for various function. Code for these functions are in DLL files that we have coded. This code includes access to an SQL Server DB residing on the same machine as the DLL.

Starting with the 1/1/2018 update of MicrosoftEdge.exe we are getting a “Stream read error” when the a application normally presents the user interface via the browser. See the attachment for the complete error message and the URL line.

If we specify Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox as the browser, there is no problem. When we run the DLL on a Windows 10 VM we use, which has not yet been updated to the 1/1/2018 release, it works just like in Chrome or Firefox.

I am thinking that maybe the new Edge is imposing some kind of directory, file or DB access restriction that was not on the prior versions. Any ideas on this?

  • Thanks for reporting this issue! Would it be possible for you to let us know which version of Windows you’re running (and which 1/12018 update you’re referring to? We have several updates rolling out to different builds, so this will help us narrow the issue down. Thanks again!
