Steps to reproduce

Attempting to enable developer features to debug extensions does not do anything. No feedback is provided and after restart the option is still disabled.

    • Hi Ben,

I was not able to repro this issue.  I noticed a couple items in your video.  None of the Developer Setting check-boxes are selected.  Did you disable any of these?  By default a couple should be enabled on a fresh install.  Also, do you have network connectivity?  I noticed when you showed the active extensions that Edge stated that it could not offer suggestions then.  You don’t need a working connection to change the developer settings, however, I am thinking this could be another sign of a bigger issue.

Are you running in safe mode or as a non-admin?  Can you create a new admin account and test in that account?

      Steve

    • Hi Steve,

I’m running this on a standard MSA account which i believe gives admin privileges. I have not made any changes to the options and attempting to enabling any of the results in nothing happening as per the video. I do have network connectivity, the offer suggestions area has been erroring out like that for a few builds now.

I have attempted to reset Edge via the Repair and Reset options however it does not resolve the issue. This is on a clean upgrade from 16299 (FCU).

    • Can you try resetting Edge manually?  Here are the instructions to do that:

      https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/apps_windows_10-msedge/how-to-recover-microsoft-edge-if-it-fails-to/7cd3b30c-7d38-466c-8ee2-1b96fdf06580?auth=1

You could also try using a new user account.

If none of the above correct the issue you can go through a rather comprehensive integrity check explained in the following link:

      https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-performance/windows-10-performance-and-install-integrity/75529fd4-fac7-4653-893a-dd8cd4b4db00

The last option is a clean install.  There have been some upgrade issues and perhaps this is related to one of those or some other software installed.  If it is related to any additional software you should see the issue again after the clean install.  I am guessing a clean install will solve this issue and perhaps one of the many suggestions above.

Also, as an FYI, I have not seen this issue before.

Sorry I do not have an easier solution,

      Steve
