Steps to reproduce

When you click on a search field, your search history/suggestions come up. This is a problem because often there are important and relevant options underneath the search field that are covered by the search history/suggestions! So instead of the search history/suggestions popping up with 1 click, it should require 2 clicks, which is what Chrome and Firefox do. I’ve attached a screenshot showing the issue. Please fix this, it really is an issue

  • Hi Will,

I see what you are talking about.  I believe a workaround is to select any text and then the website’s search options will be visible again.  I realize that if you don’t have a saved search entry that you want to select that it becomes an extra step.

I believe this falls under a feature request, however, I will verify this.  I did not see this issue already in the uservoice feature request/change website.  I could just be missing it though.

I recommend you are this idea to the site while I look into this.

  • I did some additional testing and realized that if you click the search box again the suggestions disappear and then the site’s search options are displayed again.  Given that, I believe this is a matter of preference and would fall under a feature/change request.

  • “I did some additional testing and realized that if you click the search box again the suggestions disappear and then the site’s search options are displayed again.” Thanks, I didn’t know that. But I have to say, I’ve encountered this surprisingly often and because websites put options underneath the search box so often, I really think Edge’s behaviour should be changed to what Chrome and Firefox are doing, because even more savvy people like myself aren’t aware that click the search field again will make the suggestions disappear. Ideally websites would not put checkboxes and menus underneath the search box but the fact is, they do, and that might never change. I understand the intentions are to be helpful but please reconsider this!
