Edge Not working on 17074 and 17083 Builds

Steps to reproduce

after installing 17074 and 17083 edge browser is not working. when i open it gets closed after few mins without doing anything and it will not even open any sites

  • Hi,

    Do you have any security software installed on your system?  I have seen issues where certain security or system software will modify Edge’s binary and then fail a security check when launched.

    You can also try to repair and/or reset Edge.  The procedure to do this is outlined below and I have attached screenshots.

    1. Open the system settings.  Win + I
    2. Click the “Apps” icon
    3. In the “Apps & features” section search for “edge”
    4. Single click on “Microsoft Edge”
    5. Select “Advanced options”
    6. Click the “Repair” button

    If the “Repair” option does not correct the issue repeat the procedures above except instead of “Repair” for the last step (#6), click the “Reset” button.

    ould it be possible for you to use the
    Feedback Hub app to take a trace (see instructions below) and include a link to
    it on this bug?
     

    1.     

    Open
    the Feedback Hub app by using the Search Bar (Win + s) and typing “feedback
    hub”

    2.     

    Click
    the Feedback icon on the upper left of the app below the home icon.

    3.     

    Click
    “Add New Feedback”

    4.     

    Select
    “Problem” for “What kind of feedback is it?”

    5.     

    Select
    “Microsoft Edge” category from the “Show category suggestions” pick list.

    6.     

    Select
    the “Browser crashes or stops working” subcategory

    7.     

    If
    you see “Go to diagnostic and usage data settings”, change the settings to
    allow sending diagnostic data. 
    Note that
    some company policies might prevent you from making changes.

    8.     

    Click
    “Start capture” under “Recreate the problem”

    9.     

    Perform
    the steps necessary to reproduce the issue

    10.  

    Press
    “Stop capture”

    11.  

    Fill
    in the other required fields and submit the feedback

    This will provide us with a trace
    we can use to debug the issue further.
