Steps to reproduce

So when I try to paste stuff in some site (like a text box area), the browser will refresh the page and after for like two time, it will crash the page and become unstable.

I didn’t have this issue with previous versions.

    Does this happen every time you paste something into the browser?

    Can you try repairing Edge using the following procedures?


    the system settings.  Win + I


    the “Apps” icon


    the “Apps & features” section search for “edge”


    click on “Microsoft Edge”


    “Advanced options”


    the “Repair” button

    the “Repair” option does not correct the issue repeat the procedures above
    except instead of “Repair” for the last step (#6), click the “Reset” button.  This will remove your favorites and settings.

  • I did both of these and still having the issue.

    I’m about to update to 17107, hope that fixes the issue.

  • I just update to 17107 and still having this issue, and it doesn’t let me paste in some text box area and crash the site and cause the page to refresh.

  • I upload one attachment, this is the text box area that for example I can’t paste anything from clipboard (text).

  • Another thing that I find, if that text has format (like a rich text) the paste will fail, but if it’s just a simple text, it won’t fail and paste will successful.

  • I also installed the 17110 as well and same issue.

    Any respond ?

  • Well no one care to respond, but I kind of fix this issue by enabling Caret Browsing feature and now I can paste.

    Sorry for the delay.  I appreciate the update about the workaround.  I don’t think this is a fix, but glad that it appears to work for you.

    I would like to get more information on how I can repro this.  Can you give me a specific website I can go to where this is happening for you?  I am guessing I will not be able to have the same issue so I would like to request a crash dump if you are willing to provide that.  This is will let us know what is causing this issue.

    Diagnostic Tool v1.2 from


    installed open “DebugDiag2 Collection” and select the rule type ‘Crash’ and
    click next.


    Select target type select ‘

    and click next


    the text box next to Selected Process please enter iexplore.exe and click next


    the Advanced Configuration please just click next


    in the Select Dump Location please take note of the location where the dump
    file will be written. You can change this to another location if you wish.
    Click Next then Click Finish.


    you have reproduced the crash, open the folder location from step 5 above.
    Locate the file ending in .dmp. Please compress (zip) this .dmp file(s) and
    upload them to connect. 

    Once you

  • Yes, that was helpful.  Thank you for providing that.  I was able to match this crash with other similar crash data that we have collected.

    It sounds like you can easily re-create this failure.  Do you have a website or a simplified repro?  E.g. if I create a simple webpage with a textbox and paste formatted text, should this issue occur?  A consistent repro would be valuable.

  • Any update on this or it just keeps changing from another person to another one?!

  • lol, what you are seeing is part of the internal investigation based on the crash dump you provided.  Just ignore the re-assignments for now.  The issue is being looked at and we will let you know once it gets sorted out.
