Steps to reproduce

  1. Navigate to a web page or type text into the address bar
  2. Highlight text in address bar
  3. CTRL-C to copy, Edge will hang for a couple seconds then crash

Note: Copying from anywhere else in the application does not crash Edge, but also does not work. The clipboard remains empty. Pasting from the clipboard works fine. After restarting Edge, it will continue to exhibit the same problem. Rebooting the system resolves the issue temporarily, but after leaving Edge running and using it for an undetermined amount of time (I notice it after a couple days typically), the issue starts happening again.

The following Error is captured in the Windows Event Viewer upon crash:

When you can, please provide the dump and reopen this case.

    • Sorry it took me so long to reproduce. I had originally used the “Repair App” function and the issue went away for some time, but it has since resurfaced with the same error. I managed to get a .dmp file from the MicrosoftEdge.exe process, but not MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe.

    • The page timed out trying to upload my zipped dmp file. It is ~100MB. I will upload it elsewhere and provide a link later today.

    • Here is a download link for the .dmp zip: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsL-XFaJBQWnqsgHlnc1FwcWnz8vZg

    • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. We are pleased to report this problem is fixed in Edge 17692 and is available in our Insider Preview build.

      Best Wishes,
      The MS Edge Team

    • Unfortunately the problem still exist for me in 17692 build of Insider Preview, in Edge 42.17692.1000.0

    • Manipulating favorites is a complete mess in Edge; even with the Build 17713, the minute you try to delete/rename/add a favorite, it crashes with exception 0xc000027b.

I tried very hard to “love” Edge, but even today, it’s still like an unfinished product…
