Steps to reproduce

All drop-down menus in https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/ are disabled and there are some bugs in the page that prevent us from downloading any virtual machines.
My test virtual machines are expired and I can’t test my web apps in Internet Explorer, nor Edge.
Too bad.

    • Hi Alain,

"I can’t test my web apps in Internet Explorer, nor Edge.

      Too bad."

Umm, don’t say that. :)  We will get this sorted out ASAP and there are workarounds.

My first guess is an extension that might be blocking the scripts that are running to allow selecting the first drop-down menu for selecting the “Virtual Machine” operating system.

Can you disable your extensions, especially anti-virus, ad-blockers, or no-javascript extensions?  As an FYI, I am running Adguard AdBlocker and that site is functional.  I.e. this normally is not an issue.

Will you provide the extended version of Windows 10 you are using?  Win + S and type “winver” and hit enter.

Out of curiosity, are you able to download using another browser?

Appreciate you letting us know about this issue,

      Steve

    • Can confirm. “vms.354caee.js:5 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token }” in Chrome, Firefox & Safari on Mac

This is not a browser issue, looks like the sourcemap is messing things up https://az813057.vo.msecnd.net/scripts/vms.354caee.js

Also the title states “on any browsers, including IE”

    • When not logged in I get the same problem, the selects are disabled and the js error aske gets, but when I’m logged in it works ok.

    • Thank you for the comments.  I am seeing the same behavior now.  Perhaps I had a cached version.

As and FYI, I am seeing this in Edge when signed in to my developer account as well as when not signed in.

    • Hello all,

We made a change to the site that should correct this.  You will need to do a cache-less reload Ctrl-F5 or clear all your session data via the debugger (F12).

Let us know if that does not correct the issue.

    • It looks like the issue was the precompressed gz file had some garbage at the end.

I’ve updated the file in the CDN and purge it. You will need to refresh the cache to get the updated version but that should do the trick.

What I’d like to know is why the gzip version was sent instead of the brotli compressed one 🤔
