Steps to reproduce

When using webkitDirectory attribute for folder upload in the <input> element, the “change” event is fired slowly in case of uploading a complex folder structure, say 20-50 subfolders with 2-3 subfolders in each of them and with 2-3 files in each of them.
Comparatively speaking, the “change” event is fired almost instantly in Chrome or Firefox, wile it takes for a few seconds for Edge.

This is a frustrating user experience because users would need to wait for a few seconds without understanding whether the folder is successfully selected, which usually relies on the “change” event for interface changes. The input box remains blank (or previous state) during the waiting time, and users is also able to re-select folders during this period of time, which is unexpected.
