Steps to reproduce

We encountered a memory leak running IE11 on our Windows Server 2016 (which does not have Microsoft Edge). In the html file, although the site is being reloaded all the time, the memory it consumes is increasing until it crashes.

This behaviour is not observed in other browsers.

  • Thank you for your feedback on Internet Explorer.

We are not presently working on feature bugs in Internet Explorer outside of security-related issues.  If you can reproduce this issue on MS Edge, please let us know.

Alternatively, if you have a premier support contract, you can visit and open a support incident and work with an engineer to address this issue.

    Best regards,
    The MS Edge Team

  • Hello Steven and thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately though, Edge is unavailable on Windows Server 2016. Is it maybe possible to install it nevertheless?

    Thank you in advance,

  • Hi Christos!

Here is what I could find regarding Windows Server 2016 Edge support:

“The Long-Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) versions of Windows, including Windows Server 2016, don’t include Microsoft Edge or many other Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps. Systems running the LTSB operating systems do not support these apps because their services get frequently updated with new functionality. For customers who require the LTSB for specialized devices, we recommend using Internet Explorer 11.” -
