IE11 Does Not Support \\ on HTTPS sites

Steps to reproduce

We have developed hundreds of websites utilizing the \ as a way to switch between http and https with links. IE11 does not recognize the \ as an external link, but as an internal link. This needs to be handled as an external link.

      We are not presently working on feature bugs in
      Internet Explorer outside of security-related issues.
