Steps to reproduce

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge in Application Guard mode.
  2. Open any website with a WebP image or open any WebP image directly.

Expected:
The WebP image should render. This works in Microsoft Edge when not loaded in Application Guard Mode.

Actual:
The image is displayed as a broken graphics icon.

Important note:
When there are multiple <picture><source/>s then Edge still prefers to download an WebP image even though it will fail to render it, and there are other file formats available.

    • Is there any update on this? Just curious to see what the timeline is for a fix. Since Firefox now supports WEBP as well, I would like to adopt the format on my web projects, but I am of course concerned about this issue being a showstopper.

If a fix isn’t available in the short term, is there a known work around to ensure using WEBP in the element doesn’t result in a broken image?

    • Please fix this! So many images now not showing on many sites.
