Steps to reproduce

I am running Windows 10 version 1903 and Edge is constantly eating up to 100% of my RAM. I will close Edge completely and go into the task manager and (this last time) it showed 11 windows still open using 1384 MB of RAM. This is a constant problem. I was also having problems with Cortana but I managed to find a way to disable it through regedit. I am using Windows 10, version 1903 and have 8 G RAM.

    • Hi Diane!

Thank you for contacting us! Just to clarify, when you close Edge, it still shows that it is running in your task manager?

Could you provide me with your version of Microsoft Edge?

How to find your version of Microsoft Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027011/microsoft-edge-find-out-which-version-you-have

      Thanks,

      Zach

    • Hi Zachariah, yes even when I close all Edge Windows it still shows many instances of Edge running in Task Manager processes Task Manager will have the number of instances in parentheses next to the Microsoft Edge process. I then have to click END TASK the number of times that are in the parentheses completely close Edge. The version I’m using says Microsoft Edge 44.17763.1.0 Microsoft EdgeHTML 18.17763

    • Hi Diane!

Thank you for getting back to me! Hopefully this will fix it: Open the start menu and search for "Background Apps". On the list, disable “Microsoft Edge” and then restart your device.

Let me know if this solves the issue.

      Thanks,

      Zach
